This is one of the best Korean BBQ deals in the city: $9.99 or $14.99 buys you all the bbq meat you care to eat. The $9.99 includes beef brisket and pork belly; while $14.99 adds boneless galbi to the repertoire (good quality saeng galbi). Definitely get the $14.99 deal. By the way, this isn’t your typical ghetto buffet style all-you-can-eat type of thing. There are no sushi or Chinese food included. Just great tasting banchan and your bbq meats delivered to your table upon request.

The tofu soups are good, too. I love the silky tofu they use. Possibly the silkiest tofu in the city hands down. So, go and eat here now!

It’s called the The Stack: crispy, tender fried chicken fillet, thick slices of Benton’s bacon, gooey Tillamook cheddar, a fried egg, all slathered in a creamy sausage gravy, inside a fluffy, fresh-baked biscuit. Down that with an ice-cold bottle of Diet Coke and you have an amazing breakfast.

Or get this– Kobe Roast Beef: slices of tender Kobe roast beef, crispy-fried slivers of onions, horseradish sauce, all on a toasted French roll.

Round out your breakfast (or brunch) with a mimosa and a Sublime doughnut. Yeah.

My best buddy Sean took me here knowing just how much I love Korean food. The meal was really good. And filling. There were 12 items. I ate finished all of them. My favorite was the Galbi Jjim (beef short ribs). It melted in my mouth. It was so good I had to have silence.
Go on an empty stomach. You’ll thank me later.
<3 Thanks again, buddy. And also for taking pictures. </end>

I’m an avid Peking Duck eater. I’ve had it almost everywhere (name it and chances are, I’ve had it there). I love the Vietnamese version here at Wong Kee — the duck is so lean, there’s hardly any fat between the meat and the skin. Oh, and the skin– crispy, glossy, crispy. I love that there isn’t that Cantonese taste of five-spice powder (my mom and sister would so appreciate this). The meat is tender and has just the right amount of salt and spices. Pancakes (actually crepes) are the more traditional accompaniment but many places (including here) also use soft buns which I prefer. This is my current favorite. I could eat this everyday.

But no, it doesn’t stop there. The House fried rice is amazing. It’s garlicky and smoky, with lots of stir-fried roast pork and clumps of egg. Delicious. Seriously. Go. Now.

Dear friends,
I’ve been achy these past couple of days. With a splitting headache and no appetite (gasp), there really wasn’t anything I wanted to eat. It’s serious, I know. Then it dawned on me… I wanted to eat my “happy” food. Not comfort food. Comfort food is different — it usually brings back childhood memories. Happy Food is food that, well, makes me happy right after eating it. These are my happy food. What’s yours?

There’s only one memorable dish at this new place: the Yum Woon Sen. It transported me back to Thailand. This stuff is good and tastes (and looks) as it should be. The noodles are soft and wet. Most places do a drier version but the real thing is really wet. Like you can taste the broth where the noodles have been cooked in. And it’s spicy. This one’s it.

But wait, there’s another thing… the taro pudding. I’ve never seen it in Atlanta. But ate it all over Bangkok. It’s soft and custardy — an Asian equivalent of the sweet potato pie except much better. It’s ridiculously good!

If you love steamed pork buns as much as I do, then you will go crazy over Miso’s new sliders or Bun. My favorite? The simmered pork belly, of course. The pork is braised in this delicious sauce. It is so tender. The cilantro makes it more Asian than it already is. Oh, soooooo good.

But that’s not it. All the buns are great. The crispy duck, the hamburger (which is actually a meatloaf), the hotdog, and the tonkatsu are all great. You have to try them all.

One last thing… the Pork Kimchi is insane. It’s got this tender pork stir-fried with spicy kimchi in all its glorious grease. Talk about foodgasm. I ate it with plain buns. Oh. My.

The best burger with a kick is the Apache burger and you can only find it here. The patty is juicy and tasty. Joined in a pillow-soft bun by spicy friends: house roasted green chiles, grilled onions, and pepper jack cheese. It’s not really spicy but there’s a considerable heat to it. Happy burger.

All the other burgers are good, too. Except for the turkey burgers which tasted like steamed fake meat (sorry, @tonetoatlanta). Meh. Fries are good. Onion rings have too much batter. Sweet potato kettle chips are good.

One word: Pork. Three words: Braised Pork Belly. Enough said.
Available during lunch only. Braised for 6 hours and they only make one pot daily. Comes plated with perfectly steamed Jasmine rice and a fried egg. I ate it 3 days in a row two weeks ago. It was greasy, fatty, tender, delicious. It is deadly. And all for $4.99.

Next best thing: Fried Chicken. Double-fried. Crunchy. Tasty.

Third best thing: hot pots. I’ve been waiting for this joint to open. I even sent Sean when he was home during his winter break to check it out one day but they hadn’t open yet at the time. The hot pots are just like from her older sister on BuHi. And same owner. But it’s nicer here. And bigger. They have lunch meals, not just hot pots. It gets ridiculously busy during lunch. Go now!
P.S. Get the spicy broth.
