I’ve been trying to retire from blogging for many years. Of all the bloggers I started out with back in 2007, only two people remain active in blogging about food: Jimmy and Broderick. Technically. Since FoodieBuddha is semi-retired also. Anyways. You see, back in 2010, I had this awesome idea. About a new project. So I started with such excitement until, well, I just became plain lazy. Plus there were so many excuses that got in the way. So it went into the back burner. I’m gonna try to resurrect that project again. While I’m not going to be gone from blogging altogether, (besides, a good friend said, “You have a responsibility to tell people about more Korean restaurants.”) I will just be taking a different approach to blogging. I think blogging has run its course for me. I mean, really, how many more Korean restaurants can I talk about? They’re practically all just the same. Besides, you can only use so many adjectives to describe food. These days, it’s really more convenient (and fast) to post a picture on Instagram and have mini reviews. In case you hadn’t noticed, that’s what I’ve been doing for the last, oh, two years now?

    Well, I’m not in favor of you retiring, because the work you have done has been remarkably useful. I don’t Instagram or any of that yet, but I hope that the blog stays put for a very long time to come even as your updates taper off. Even as restaurants close and new ones open, the work you’ve put into this blog makes it a phenomenally useful resource and I enjoy reading you.

    I really do hear you. I’ve slowed down a lot once I got past 400 Atlanta posts, perhaps because it becomes harder and harder to write about the “merely good” places. Things that would excite me over your first couple hundred posts just don’t give me the boost they used to.

    If something excites you, please write about it here. Those of us who have been around will know it’s something unusual. We have some new bloggers (Bella Viviere) who can blanket cover Alpharetta/Duluth now.

    Thanks, FnS! I appreciate the insight. I thought a lot about what you (and everyone else) said. Most times, I am compelled to tell people about places that are worth their time, money, and stomach space. I’ve decided to continue to do that.

    There are so many bloggers around now but they don’t know the history behind food in Atlanta. And most times, they get free meals and reviews based on those don’t really interest me. The difference between the original Atlanta food bloggers — you, me, EatItAtlanta, BlissfulGlutton, TakeThouFood, EatDrinkMan, FoodieBuddha, (and even FriedChickenLips and EatBuHi) — and the other “new” bloggers is that we have eaten enough food all over the world to have a more experienced palate that we can objectively discern the subtleties and differences among and between dishes, thus, making our reviews more useful to the public.
